Windswept

I know what you want. You want a story that won’t surprise you. That will confirm what you already know. That won’t make you see higher or further or differently. You want a flat story. An immobile story. You want dry, yeastless factuality.

This is my Lent plan.

1.) Need to be in bed by 12:00 AM on Mondays - Wednesdays.  Exceptions are when: Barrio practice ends at 12 (but go to bed right after), and Monday, April 6.

2.) No more unnecessary snacking.  This sounds kinda weird, because.. there are many loopholes to this.  But what I mean by this is : for example, tonight I ate chicken tenders and ramen for absolutely no reason.  Was I hungry?  No.  Were there people around?  No.  I just ate.

3.) Fried foods once per week. I’m making this exception because I feel like I don’t know what’s fried at dining halls, or sometimes the entire dining hall is fried food.  To not be hypocritical, I’m throwing that out there.

(& I can still eat chimichangas)

4.) Exercise at least 3 times/week.

Haha, what an exception filled Lent plan.  But what really is the point of Lent anyways?  To give up things that get in the way of your spiritual life, and to make you more healthy mentally and physically for God.  I feel like these are necessary changes in my own life to do so - without giving something up just to give it up.

& perhaps because I’m a wuss.

EDIT: March 7, 2009 (12:04AM) — I .. didn’t do this at all.
