Windswept

I know what you want. You want a story that won’t surprise you. That will confirm what you already know. That won’t make you see higher or further or differently. You want a flat story. An immobile story. You want dry, yeastless factuality.

the tracks elevate
fly to the highest point
and yet who knows when the pinnacle moment arrives
will this be a thriller?
a topsy turvy head over heels fantasy and reality?
or another forgettable flop.

no, not me.
i am a classic.
they came from the depths of all over to see me
to experience me
       —
i am suspense
the build keeps you waiting and wanting
the first fall is not enough, keep them coming back for more
the fastest, tallest, exhiliration guaranteed.

yet when to stop?
when is enough too much?
the falls and drops, the ups and spins
and anchor it with a loop de loop.
i give my all but my imperfections that once blinded leave you whiplashed

the pain of hurting those who keep me from the destruction in a fast-paced world
the pain of hurting those who keep me alive

i am a wooden rollercoaster
in desperate need for metal supports
