Windswept

I know what you want. You want a story that won’t surprise you. That will confirm what you already know. That won’t make you see higher or further or differently. You want a flat story. An immobile story. You want dry, yeastless factuality.

remember that old hand clap game?

Concentration
sixty Four
no repeats
or hesitation
i’ll go first
and you’ll go second
category is
slippers.

In the darkness
i do fall
and with my car
i toss and swerve
where to go
in what direction
demand respect
too much to ask

Jot me down
and don’t forget
but in one ear
and out the trash
what is worthy
of miseration
now keep on diving
us down to hell

Where is my
appreciation
and to the bird
i give a call
to lift me up
and sore like Heroes
but in thee I
still do fall

Concentration
sixty four
we still repeat
no alteration
but I won’t go
and now expect it
category is
home.
